指着眼前的书说 that book，指着远处的树说 this tree——孩子经常远近不分。
指示代词其实就两个维度：近还是远、单数还是复数。
四个格子
- 近 + 单数：this 这个
- 远 + 单数：that 那个
- 近 + 复数：these 这些
- 远 + 复数：those 那些
- This is my pen.（手里这支）
- That is a bird.（那边那只）
- These are my books.（面前这几本）
- Those are her apples.（远处那些）
打电话特殊用法
英语里打电话说"我是……"，不说 I am...，说 This is...：
- Hello, this is Tom speaking. 喂，我是汤姆。
- 问对方：Who is that? 你哪位？
介绍别人
- This is my friend Lily. 这位是我朋友莉莉。
介绍身边的人，永远用 this，不用 he/she。
回答
- What's this? — It's a book.（回答用 it，不用 this）
- What are these? — They are apples.
口诀：近 this 远 that，近 these 远 those；打电话自报家门，this 比 I 更地道。
