Mentos candy has many tiny holes. Cola has lots of carbon dioxide gas. The holes give gas a place to form bubbles. When the candy drops in, bubbles grow very fast. The gas pushes the cola up and out. This makes a big soda eruption. Never shake the bottle before the experiment.
