A Dog and a Cock, who were friends, were traveling together on a long journey. 一只狗和一只公鸡是好朋友，他们一起结伴长途旅行。 At nightfall they came to a great forest, and the Cock flew up into a tree to roost in the branches. 天黑时，他们来到一片大森林，公鸡飞上一棵树，栖息在树枝上。 The Dog lay down to sleep in a hollow place at the foot of the tree. 狗则在树下的一个空洞里躺下睡觉。 Before daylight, the Cock, as usual, crowed very loudly several times. 天还没亮，公鸡像往常一样，高声啼叫了好几遍。 A Fox heard the sound and came toward the tree, wishing to eat the Cock for his breakfast. 一只狐狸听见了声音，朝树这边走来，想把公鸡当早餐吃掉。 He stood under the tree and called out sweetly, “Good morning, dear friend!
